Like a hugh number of other museums, this museum was also constructed during the time when France colonized Vietnam.
A range of memorabilia related to the period when the Viet Minh soldiers fought back the French colonials. In additions, it’s a historical sites during the formation of Ho Chi Minh City. Also because of its alluring architecture, many couples choose this place to take their wedding photo shoot.
The building was built in 1885 and finished in 1890 by a French architect. It used to have many owners, mostly the governors of the city, from the French governors to the Japanese ones. Especially, the first president of South Vietnam, Ngo Dinh Diem who created the Republic of Vietnam, also lived here.
The style is combined between European and Asian, classical and renaissance. Since its purpose is to promote the country’s commercial, along the main doors there are statues of Commercial and Agriculture goddess.
